Bexhill and Sidley Walking Cricket Club AGM held at Bexhill Leisure Centre on February 14th 2025
Meeting very well attended with 19 members in attendance (thank you).
The minutes are attached below, highlights as follows:
The Chair and Committee stood for re-election unopposed and were re-appointed. An additional member, Trevor Berry was also elected to the Committee.
Treasurer’s report was presented showing that a transfer of £307 from reserves would be required in 2025 to meet operating costs. This is a considerable reduction from the forecast transfer requirement of £818 as we have seen a delay in planned venue cost increases and also reduced contribution to the Christmas Lunch. For year to date 2025, the club is running at an income surplus mainly due to good turnout and 5 new members joining the club. Hopefully this positive trend can be sustained.
A couple of rule changes were decided with an increase in the penalty for ‘running’ between the wickets which will now incur minus 4 runs to the batting side. Also umpires are encouraged to tighten up on calling ‘running’ infringements.
Rules on the website have been updated accordingly.
There was a proposal and discussion around setting up a social fund for members who may be in financial need. It was decided that the club and members would continue to support such cases on an ad hoc basis with fundraising where appropriate.
